I graduated from NYU in 2012 with aspirations of becoming an actress in my hometown of New York City. However, three years later, the transformative experience of my daughter's water birth shifted my passion. The very first time I experienced midwifery care I cried!!!! Not because of those fun pregnancy hormones but because I had never felt so seen, touched with care, listened to deeply with interest, centered and empowered by any health care provider in my life. It absolutely blew my mind that this type of care existed AND that I hadn’t been receiving it! I became a provider to extend that same quality of diligent, evidence based and person-centered care to others.
